It is very important for every pianist, from beginning student to advanced performer, to sit properly at the piano to avoid injury and enjoy fluency and ease of movement. This video covers pretty much everything you need to know but were afraid to ask :)

ashburymusichall.com I'd like to invite you to sign up for lessons with me at Ashbury Music Hall, covering Debussy's "Clair de lune" from scratch, right from the comfort of your own home! My 12- week course lessons are designed for beginners who have never played the piano before or read a note of music. We'll use the piece itself to learn the basics of music notation and piano technique. Ashbury Music Hall makes it incredibly easy to post video and audio comments between teachers and students - all you need is a computer with a broadband internet connection and a way to record audio into your computer, and optionally a video recorder as well (see my video for details). I'll also work on a video to help with audio and video setups for students. I'm looking forward to personally helping you learn to play Debussy's masterpiece "Clair de lune" - from scratch!

Please visit PianoFromScratch.com to view all of the lessons and download the sheet music. Now we put the remaining elements together in this measure. Once again, we try to use some fingering strategies that take advantage of "cookie cutter" octave shapes, particularly in the left hand where we can position it to fit several consecutive note groups. Octaves are the name of the game! We also look at pivoting fingering in favor of preserving the "cookie cutter" shape, and some different pedaling options. You can download a PDF of the score as part of the Suite Bergamasque from IMSLP.org here imslp.org You can also download the MusicReader version of Clair de lune itself here: airturn.com MusicReader is a program that gives you the ability to annotate your score with digital ink, just like I do on these lesson videos.
