This lesson will teach you how to play 'Tick Tock' - the fifth piece in the MMF! All-In-One Beginner Piano Book. You can download the book for free from the www.MakingMusicFun.net website. The link to this book is located just below this video. Let's get started. Tick Tock introduces the musical term Stacatto. If a dot appears above or below a note, it should be play short. Tick Tock also is your first chance to play the piano with the right and the left hand. Measures 1-4 are played with the right hand, and measures 5-8 are played with the left hand. The first two measures are made up of eight quarter notes. Quarter notes get one beat. The notes are CGDGCGDG. They are played with fingers 1-5-2-5-1-5-2-5. Measures 1-2 sound like this. Let's try it together. Let's try measures 3 and 4. The notes are CDECD. The last note is a whole note. It gets four beats. When I play the whole note I will say "hold-that-whole-note". Using this phrase will help you to perform this rhythm correctly. Measures 3-4 sound like this. Let's try it together.
