    Most amazing playing.

As for Ravel – The most amazing wind entries I have ever heard.

Makes me cry – So beautiful. – Why is most of the beauty in this world vanishing.

  2. Ferenz111 says:

sublime… perfect sound. Fracois Guy is taking the time, not rushing. we can breathe and meditate with the music…

  3. wildknight1103 says:

Whatever one thinks of the interpretation, this video has the best sound of any I’ve watched on YouTube.

  4. Youli64 says:

    absolument magnifique

  5. mturbevi says:

Francois Guy does this great. This is maybe what Ravel wants on the second movement.
In Mi o E , 3 /4 no doubt . Ravel makes simple intervals that suggest big harmony. You have to study Ravel. What a composer. Ravel was one of the great masters .Make simple be so beautiful. Guy does this well.

    rap MUSIC,,, ??? MUSIC… ???? MUSIC… ???
you’re heard MUSIC… ??? in rap..? there is a MUSIC… ? in RAP…? this must be joke ! as I saw you’re using name of MOZART ! if rap IS MUSIC ! then Beethoven is German soccer team..& Shaquille O’Neal is ballet-dancer & YOU are ALBERT EINSTEIN. And G.W.Bush(son) is father of mother Theresa…hooooh !

  7. christophleipzig says:

Just an aspect: The sound of the Orchestra is phenomenal. An example: at 6:04 – just the appearance of the accord-sound.

The violins sound is very dark colored – I for myself like this a lot.

  8. beethomozart says:

excellent version of this 2nd movement of thisn happy, lightly version of this superb piano concerto, comparing to Mozart is not exaggerated, a nice melody Ravel knew what smoothness is about in this 2nd mov

  9. worseto says:

this is one of the best versions ive ever heard.

  10. marimbandu says:

that`s the point … u are given some notes , so u do the best u can with them > that`s what music is all about …
    > this is the best version i have ever heard , and i did hear a few ;) …. peace

  11. kyaume21 says:

Maybe it was the quality of the recording but none of the accords were actually together. I have played this piece myself, and didn’t like this interpretation at all. Too sentimental, It is a very emontional piece already, so it doesn’t need exaggeration.

  12. 60ECg says:

    Just excellent English Horn playing.

  13. marimbandu says:

    excelent said :)

  14. squanck says:

    I agree

  15. Olibutters says:

So jerk off mozart20dlubos, you pure piece of spunk, and don’t pollute our world of pure shinning Beauty with your uggly nasty face of crap !!!

  16. robynsalain says:

une très remarquable interprètation de ce mouvement 2 du concerto de ravel.

  17. drugiedrugie says:

    makes me cry too.

  18. singerguy93 says:

then how did you get to a piano soloist video, hhm?

  19. tititalin says:

the most beautiful part probably is when the flute comes in.
so beautiful that that moment makes me cry.

  20. magicicle says:

    Esa-Pekka Salonen!!! I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. mozart20dlubos says:

This is boring, that’s why I like rap music.

  22. Dzidka56 says:

    that’s amazing
especially the silence at the end..
    the audience just waits.

  23. butifarra61 says:

don’t know much about biology but after 500, it just lovely between the wind instrument and piano. kudos.

  24. Straussian says:

I like this performance very much. My guess is the pianist is well aware of the “left-right detached method” and is lovingly cultivating it. I like it, but I’m not sure how much–a lot or a little.

My favorite Ravel Concerto Adagio (is there any other movement in the concerto?) by miles is Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli. His perfect control, especially in the “duet,” fills me with awe, longing, heartache, and joy.

    I agree.

  9. lacalleestadura says:

    Exelente interpretacion

  10. dagadbm says:

michelangelli obviously has a much better interpretation

  11. Holbeinisscheisse says:

too much theatre and not enough beauty in this.

  12. kiszka1987 says:

I prefer this in arrangement of Natalia Pasiecznik but this is also absolutely beautiful!

  13. 125cor says:

    beautiful English horn playing!

  14. minetto2 says:

A work of incredible beauty and profondeur (depth)… what a genius!

  15. maxi297 says:

So wonderful! Une composition incroyable de la part de Ravel!

  16. gtrdriven says:

    Achingly beautiful.

I can feel Ravel’s passion through this performance.

  17. jannokas85 says:

You’re right, i think. This left-right detached method is nice, but only in moderation. I think it’s very effective at peak moments, but not everywhere. This pianist is probably unaware of it.

  18. Pladask says:

That said, this is among the most beautiful pieces of music I know—my complain is out of love! :-)

  19. q6drum says:

I was thinking the same thing…

  20. NewHoejen says:

    Fantastic!

  21. jannokas85 says:

So beautiful…can’t wait to play this myself!

  22. HighlandPark400 says:

I hate to disagree, but I think his playing is very sensitive. In the opening, his right hand tone is beautifully focused and the bass voice leading is well balanced. François-Frédéric Guy is a genius!

  23. dongliu212003 says:

    ravel is so brilliant.

  24. Pladask says:

I don’t know how you feel, but I really don’t think the left/right-detached style of playing is appropriate for this incredibly beautiful piece. What do you think?

  25. healthdoctor says:

This piece really touches my heart. FFG plays with such passion and perfection. The oboe was exquisite, flute surprisingly sharp, clarinet blended beautifully. Thank you.
