What a treat Doug! The solo intro has a very loose and ethereal quality along with the seventh b9 parallel harmonies – perfect for this song. Then the trio section maintains this loose feel throughout the time section. Really great.

This was one of the first compositions that required 'modal' playing - it had sections in 4 key centres - each 4 measures long before changing key. Usually the chord quality for each is a dominant 7th with suspended 4th (D7sus,F7sus, Eb7sus, Db7sus) and unusually (for its time) the suspended chords were not resolved in the usual way.
At the start, , I used another chord quality on each 4 bar key centre - using Major 7th #5 chords instead.
