Blackbridge16 asked:

I already know how to play the clarinet (basic theory - notes, staccato, arpeggio, scales etc.), but how and where do I start learning how to play piano by myself? I don't want to pay for lessons.

I'm willing to dedicate time to learn, so that shouldn't be a problem.

It seems pretty complicated as well, especially having to focus on two melodies at once.

So...where do I start?

Now I've had piano lessons when i was in 5th and 6th grade. Well I'm 18 now and I've almost completely forgotten it all and want to get back into piano. Maybe it might come back to me once i get into piano lessons again, I'm not sure. But I also want to take guitar lessons at the same time because I've always had a profound interest in guitar as well. I want to sign up for a once-a-week piano class at the local community college at my town and also do once-a-week private guitar lessons.
Do you think it's a good idea to learn those two at once?

I tried to learn piano when i was like 10, but my teacher died..no joke. he died he had a heart attack.. and i have just been playing around and memorizing how to play songs on my piano. But I want to really learn how to play for real.

The problem is I want to learn before the end of the year.

Can i learn by then?

I have played the saxophone for many years and am very proficient in reading music and theory, but I'd like to learn how to play piano well. I took a few lessons many years ago but have forgotten how to play. What's a good book that I can get to help me relearn piano?
Basically, I'm looking for a beginner's piano book that doesn't teach me music basics - just how to play piano.

I played piano for some years as a child, but never enjoyed it.

I've always wanted to learn to play the violin, and now am realizing that now is as good a time as any.

However, I've been told by a violinist that it is important to at least become proficent on the piano first. Is this true?

I am just curious. I am 21 years old and want to learn to play piano. How long would it take until I would be able to play covers of songs like Look After You by the Fray, Apologize by OneRepublic, and my favorite Konstantine by Something Corporate?
